Usain Bolt for the Australian Soccer League

The eight-time Olympic medallist is on the verge of joining the Australian soccer league. The former athletic world champion is set to be joining Central Coast Mariners.

Usain Bolt’s agent confirmed that the two parties had agreed on a deal with only a few benchmarks to overcome. According to reports in Aussie, the 31-year-old will undergo a six weeks trial with the Mariners next month. Bolt’s attendance at the World Cup final in Moscow clearly showed that he wants to know more about the world’s most beautiful game. Since he retired from athletics, the Jamaican international has not stopped training. The star has also had trials with the Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and the Stromsgodset in Norway.

Reactions on Bolt joining the A-League

News of Usain Bolt joining the A-League has not been liked by many. Many fans and players in the league blasted the move by the Mariners to sign Usain Bolt.

Avondale FC striker Liam Boland took his anger and rage about Bolt joining the Australian league to Twitter.  The tweet read; “Usain Bolt trialling/signing in the A-League is the biggest spit in the face to all the talent in the NPL. Year after year players is overlooked in the NPL Australia wide; with more than enough talent to play in the A league. Becoming Laughable”.

The Avondale striker is famous for his strike against Green Gully.  The thunder strike eliminated Central Coast in the round of 32 in the 2016 FFA Cup.  The Mariners have been heavily criticised by the fans, players and the pundits. Hopefully, Usain Bolt will silence the critics by pulling out the best performances in the league.
