 (2018)

Alex Garland’s sequel to Ex Machina is a completely different animal. More impressionistic, woozier, and with four mouths protruding from its back. A strange shimmering haze expands from the scene when a meteorite lands on a stretch of the American coastline. However, the cloud appears to be muffling people. It’s the best Star Wars movie ever since the original trilogy. It comes with a very Star Wars flavour – and a fantastic Darth Vader freak-out sequence – as well as its unique flair. The conclusion, especially, is a one-two punch of destruction and optimism.
